BUDDY BATTLE EVENTS RULE Book

These guidelines will be used in all Buddy Battle Events. The BUDDY BATTLE EVENTS accepts no responsibility for any loss or injury sustained during play using these rules. Every player must fill out a waiver! Any player under the age of eighteen must have parent consent to play.
General:
- Only PPS Branded paint purchased from Fun On The Run Or Paintball Players Supply may be used at any Buddy Battle Event.
- All teams will consist of a maximum of 2 players on the playing field at one time. Once a player plays for one team he/she must only play on that team for the duration of the tournament.
- Tournament play will begin at the scheduled time. A captains meeting will be held between7:00 and 9:00am. Each team must send a representative to the meeting and the representative must bring waivers at this time.
- The number of games each team will play in the preliminary rounds will be at least 6. Teams will be advised of the format to be used at the captains meeting before each tournament.
- During a game NO Coaching or talking to any player on the playing field during the game. No Talking from the sidelines is allowed from any spectators. Spectators that do so will be asked by the referee to leave and at the discretion of the referee the player may be eliminated.
Game Info:
- Game time limit will be 3 minutes, unless otherwise specified by the BUDDY BATTLE EVENTS prior to the event. If the BUDDY BATTLE EVENTS deems necessary, the time of the final games may be shortened if darkness or bad weather are imminent.
- Only teams which have back to back games will be extended additional time of 5 minutes to prepare for their next game. Teams not prepared to take the field, don't show up, or forfeit will be disqualified from the game and the opposing team will be awarded with the score of a 95.
- At the beginning of each game all players will be chrohographed, no markers will be allowed to shoot over 285fps. If your marker is shooting over the limit you will have 1 minute to fix it, after the 1 minute the game will start.
- No tools are allowed on the field and no adjustments to the velocity may be made once the marker is chronographer before the start of the game.
- Any player absent when his/her team takes the field will be counted as elimination and the opposing team will be awarded the points.
- Flag station assignments will be set by the format sheet near or far side.
- Players must start in front of the start box with guns facing away. Behind the start box is the dead box if you are in this area you are eliminated.
- Photographers or spectators will be allowed on or near the playing field during play at the discretion of the BUDDY BATTLE EVENTS and opposing team.
- Total points at the end of the preliminary play will determine who will advance to the semis or finals. In event of a tie, advancement will be decided by the following criteria in order.
- In case of a BYE, The team will get an average of all their scores for the BYE game and then every team will drop the lowest score.
Teams are responsible for signing their score sheet, making sure they have all the points they should and the other team should.
1. Head to Head record (considering only the current round of current tournament)
2. Total number of flag pulls
3. Total of points scored by opponents
4. Three minute playoff game
Points:
- Points will be scored as follows (max of 100points)
- First Flag Pull: 20 Points
- Flag Hang: 60 Points
- Eliminated Players: 5 Points
- Live Players: 5 Points
Eliminated Player:
- A player is eliminated if he/she sustains a hit on any part of the body or equipment.
- A hit is defined as quarter size or the DISCRETION of the ref, shell or no shell. Shell fragments by themselves do not constitute hit.
- Players are responsible for removing an old hit before the next game.
- Players may not mark by contact any player or reprehensive of BUDDY BATTLE
- EVENTS. No hand-to-hand Combat.
- Any player who assumes the posture of an eliminated player, including the use of barrel plug, vocally indicating a hit or raising hands over head is considered eliminated.
- NO DEAD MAN WALKS.
- An eliminated player is required to place their hand on the top of their head and exit to the Dead Box at his/hers team end of the field.
- All eliminated players must exit by the shortest route. They must not interfere with any active player by blocking or attempting to draw attention as they exit. Any of these activities will be considered continuation of play and can result in a penalty (penalty is at referee discretion).
- All eliminated players must place their marker in the designated area on the ground, before entering the dead box.
Paint Check:
- A player may call for a paint check on themselves or another player during a game. If a player calls for a check on their self that player is NOT neutral, unless a referee states so. If the player is called neutral, the opposing player may not advance, attempt to advance or mark the neutral player.
Time Out:
- A time out will be used by a referee when the game is out of control or a case of a minor emergency. Once a time out is called all play on the field is to halt and the players are to hold in their position until play is resumed.
Flag Carriers:
- A flag is pulled when it is removed from its station and held by the unmarked player.
- A flag carrier cannot fold, roll or otherwise conceal the flag. The flag is to be carried in plain view.
- Unmarked players may pass the flag to other unmarked players. If a pass is made by marked players to an unmarked player, that unmarked player is then eliminated.
- Should a player be marked while carrying the flag, the player must stand in place holding the flag for any active player to retrieve. At referee’s discretion, the marked flag carrier may place the flag on a bunker as long as the flag is in plain sight.
- If the flag is hung by a marked player (with an obvious hit at ref discretion) that player’s team will receive a one for one and if that leaves them with no live players it will be a hang for the other team.
Boundaries:
- Should a player have any part of their body or equipment touch or extend outside the boundary line during a game, that player is eliminated from play.
- It is illegal to shoot paintballs across a boundary line. Any player continuing to shoot across a boundary line after a warning by a referee will be removed from the game as elimination. Any hits made across boundaries are not considered legal.
Guns and Equipment:
- Goggles must be worn at all times while on and near the playing fields or in any area designated a Goggles ON area.
- Goggles are to include full face and ear protection. Lenses may not have any cracks at all. The goggles must be manufactured for paintball sports and no other types may be substituted. Must pass ASTM standards.
- All paint markers will be .68 caliber gas/liquid powered bolt, pump action or semi-auto is defined as that which gives one valve action per a pull (fires only one shot per trigger pull). No fully automatic paint markers are allowed.
- One paint marker per player on the playing field.
- No artificial sound devices allowed.
- Ghillie suits, smoke bombs and paint grenades are not allowed.
- Barrel covers are required for all guns and shall be in use when not on the playing field. (Squeegees, swabs and barrel plugs can not be used, ONLY barrel socks can be used).
- All harness, loaders, etc. must be worn on the outside of the player's uniform.
Player's uniforms are to include no more than two layers. No soft padding or water-repellent clothing is allowed. Protective clothing (athletic supporter, bra or chest vest for girls) is allowed. The outer uniform is to be of material which will hold a paint mark. Shorts, short sleeve shirt and hoodies will be allowed only a weather permitting and at the discretion of the BUDDY BATTLE EVENTS.
Penalties:
Definition:
- 1 for 1: The player that is taken out plus one more player from the same team.
- 2 for 1: The player that is taken out plus two more players from the same team.
- Eliminated and continuing to play with obvious hit (at ref's discretion if it's a u obvious hit) a 1 for 1 or a 2 for 1 is pulled (at ref's discretion).
- Physical contact: Player eliminated from the tournament and 150 point penalty.
- Unsportsmanlike conduct or Property damage: Eliminated from the tournament and a 150 point penalty (at ref's or BUDDY BATTLE EVENTS direction).
- Players removing goggles during play, player is eliminated for that game and a 50 point penalty (ref's direction).
- Wiping 2 for 1
- Any player or team found playing down will be elimination of team from tournament with no refund.
Rookie Definition :
- Only for defined Rookie Events
- If you have not placed 3rd or higher in 3 or more events in the past year in rookie and not played at the novice level in the last three years, and ever at the amateur or pro level.
Best Buddy 1 on 1 Rule Changes:
- Teams may only have one player on the roster.
- 2 for 1 will = loss of game and 50 Penalty
- Points will be scored as follows (max of 100points)
- First Flag Pull: 20 Points
- Flag Hang: 60 Points
- Eliminated Players: 10 Points
- Live Players: 10 Points
1 on 1 Points:
